memememeKatarzyna Wojnicka, PhD, sociologist, Research Fellow in Department of Sociology and Work Science and Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She also acts as a Managing Editor for NORMA: International Journal for Masculinity Studies.

Before joining Department of Sociology and Work Science at the University of Gothenburg,  she held  postdoctoral researcher positions at several European universities: University of Leeds, UK; Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany  and University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She also worked as a Senior Researcher at DeZIM – Deutsches Zentrum für Integrations- und Migrationsforschung and  Project Manager and Research Associate at Dissens – Institut für Bildung und Forschung e.V. in Berlin, Germany.  She studied sociology and gender studies in Poland, Germany, USA and Spain.

Her PhD thesis, defended at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, was dedicated to the men’s social movements in Poland. Her current scientific interests concentrate mostly on the sociology of gender, critical studies on men and masculinities, social movements studies, migration studies and European studies. She has been a founder of the first university course on the sociology of masculinities in Poland as well as co-editor of one of the few sociological books on men and masculinities in the social research in Poland: Karuzela z mężczyznami. Problematyka męskości w polskich badaniach społecznych as well as three Special Issues focussed on men and masculinities research in Europe , Poland  and beyond. She is also an (co)author of over 50 scientific articles, book chapters and reports and co-editor of two other books. She has worked in over a dozen research projects focusing on gender and men and masculinities’ issues.
